Health & Safety Course Descriptions
Adult CPR/AED: Recognized by the Red Cross as a one year certification. Course offered publically includes AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Appropriate for lay-responders needing knowledge and skills involving those 12 years old or older and including the following:

Adult CPR/AED & First Aid: Adult CPR/AED is recognized by the Red Cross as a one year certification and First Aid as a three year certification. Appropriate for lay-responders needing knowledge and skills involving those 12 years old or older and including the following:

Please note that this is offered publically by taking these portion of any Adult/Child/Infant CPR & First Aid course that is scheduled. Call to register if you only want A/C/I CPR without the first aid!
Adult, Child, and Infant CPR & First Aid: CPR certification is recognized by the Red Cross for one year, First Aid for three years. Lay responder level training appropriate for victims of all ages and includes the following:

Blood Borne Pathogen/Preventing Disease Transmission: Issues a completion certificate recognized by the Red Cross for one year. Delivers the general portion of OSHA required training (must be augmented with employer-specific info such as handling bio-hazard waste, reporting exposure, etc.). Topics include diseases of concern, how diseases are transmitted, and exposure control.
In First Aid Lingo an Adult is 12 or older, a child 1 - 11 and an infant is newborn up to 1 year old
CPR/AED Professional Rescuer/HealthCare Provider: certification is recognized by the Red Cross for two years for those with a duty to respond, except lifeguards, which has a one year recognition. Skills appropriate for those with a duty to respond such as lifeguards, first responders, etc. and including the following:

Lay Responder First Aid & CPR Instructor Training: includes Fundamentals of Instructor Training (intro to Red Cross, learning, and teaching methods), skills and knowledge testing, and training to deliver a variety of American Red Cross courses targeted to the needs of the average person. Minimum age of 17 and must be able to pass a full array of adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and first aid skills and written testing upon arrival. Instructor training portion includes course and instructor administration, use of materials, delivery methods, skill assessment and practice teaching.
Review Challenges: provides opportunity for reduced-hours training leading to recertification in either lay-responder CPR for adults, infants & children or for CPR at the professional rescuer level. This is a test environment, not a teaching environment, and potential participants--although not needing a current existing certificate to participate--will need to study materials (books not included) ahead of time for the best chance of success. CPR Professional Healthcare Provider challenge participants must provide their own pocket masks. |
