Lewiston, ME, August 17, 2009 - The American Red Cross of Southern Maine, United Valley Service Area has opened an emergency shelter following a 5-building apartment fire in Lewiston.

The Red Cross is providing shelter, food and clothing to 40 people temporarily displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is also assisting with medical and mental health support.
